Wow, big weekend for Kanye West produced posse cut. This one weights in at 12 minutes Game style. The vocal production on this is horrendous and I don't even know what's going on with the beat during Wale's verse. Ludacris destroys most, but I'm still feeling Kanye West's verse more because of the heart.

An M.I.A. vocal sample cradles four verses by four of the biggest rappers out there. Kanye West put a little, well...a lot of T-Pain on his vocals and surprisingly delivers the strongest verse of the whole track. Lil' Wayne put even more T-Pain on himself. T.I. finally gets a little lyrical again. And I just had to use this picture. Jigga does Jigga but doesn't really deliver any memorable lines IMHO. But I'm always extra hard on the GOAT. If Weezy would've delivered this verse I would've called it his first great verse probably.

Jay-Z takes the opportunity to shoot a little line or two at Oasis' Noel Gallagher over this Kanye West producing first track off of Blueprint 3. That bloke from Oasis said I can’t play guitar/Somebody should've told him I’m a f*cking Roc star/Today is gonna be the day I'm gonna throw it back to you.

Noel for his part recently said: I wasn’t saying I was better than Jay-Z as a person or rock was greater than hip-hop as a thing or whatever it is.“I said what I said, and it was wrong, or it was taken wrong, and now all this. For my own part I can sit here and say I never dissed that guy. I never would. But there’s no point in going on about it, because you end up sounding like Heather Mills: ‘I said this! Kanye West devised a dope throwback beat for Jay-Z in the vein of 'Blue Magic'. Supposedly off of Jigga's upcoming Blueprint 3. Damn, that brings my expectation level way up.

At first I wanted to hate on this, but I appreciate the effort that clearly went into this.

Aside from the Oasis cover Jay-Z cleverly weaves in snippets of electronica/dance music early in the set with a surprising live appearance of 'Is That Your Bitch' that segues into The Prodigy's Kool Keith sampling 'Smack My Bitch Up. This is followed by Jigga's Amy Winehouse assisting 'Rehab' verse. 'A Billie' makes an appearance, mostly acapella with a strong sense of crowd control. The electro referencing continues with another Timbaland beat, though heavily altered, on 'Dirt Off Your Shoulders'. The the set takes another classic turn with a Jackson 5 intro for 'H To The Izzo' continuing the conscious decision not to alienate a crowd not used to a pure hip hop show. Onto one of his biggest pop hits 'Can I Get A F* You' that goes straight to another unexpected yet brilliantly chosen reference to the local music taste, the guest verse to Punjabi MC's 'Beware Of The Boys'. 'I Just Wanna Love U' comes next and gets the crowd dancing, which they keep doing to 'Show Me Whatchu Got' after which 'Girls Girls Girls' gives them a break. 'American Boy's guest verse is juxtaposed and brings it right back to the UK market. Rihanna's 'Umbrella' brings the non-Jay-Z song count in this set to 6 out of 13. 'Big Pimpin' leads into 'Hardknock Life' and subsequently a U2 instrumental supporting 'Heart Of The City'. The Linkin Park mashup version of 'Encore' ends the set.

VIDEO: Jay-Z - Wonderwall (live cover)

Jay-Z delivers a classic 'whut?!' moment as he 'covers' Oasis's 'Wonderwall' in a peacemaking ceremony with the Glastonbury audience. HE even puts on a guitar for good measure, even if it's turned off. Nice subliminal shot at Noel Gallagher who wrote the tune and talked greasy about how rappers shouldn't play this festival.

Jay-Z is over in the UK for some shows, including a headlining slot at Glastonbury. Here he's interviewed by talk show host Jonathan Ross, whose show I've always enjoyed. He speaks on Bed-Stuy, Beyonce, recording and much more. Most open and relaxed interview I've seen Jigga do by far. He's also sporting a look I'm going to say he wouldn't sport in the US, gazelles in full effect.
