Marilyn, Oh Marilyn

DOWNLOAD Marilyn Manson - What Goes Around...Comes Around (Justin Timberlake cover) (MP3)

Another Pinkpop post, just a quicky. Silvertje, who took those awesome Smashing Pumpkins's photos from the last post, also took this great Marilyn Manson photo. Check out more of her photos here.

The Pumpkins Return

DOWNLOAD Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock (MP3) via YellowStereo
DOWNLOAD Smashing Pumpkins - Tarantula (MP3) via Brugo

For the most part I managed to miss the entire Grunge and alternative rock era as I was sucked in completely by Hip Hop at the time, but there were a handful of exceptions. Smashing Pumpkins was the one main exception. After a break up a few years ago Billy brought back the catalog and the drummer, replaced James Iha and Darcy and started the new run with a small show in Paris a few days ago. The third show was today at the legendary Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands. It's the oldest annual festival in the world and has been running for 38 years straight in a town not far from where I grew up.

Some pictures below, and for a full post on Pinkpop check out BrooklynVegan.

Are You Guilty?

DOWNLOAD Will Oldham - A Minor Place (live) (MP3) Via AD.

These past few weeks have been a little crazy with Guilt By Association, the compilation record I'm working on at the moment, taking off and buzzing about. Everyone that's working on it as part of the team is amazing and lovely and excited about the music. Below there's some press folks that have written about it and you can check out the tracklist and some tunes on MySpace.com/guiltbyassociation

One of the musicians on GbA is the grand Will Oldham who is in that geniusly creepy photo at the bottom of this post and the lovely folks over at Aquarium Drunkard are offering up a partial live concert from BBC Scotland by this fellow. One of the mp3s is on top of this post, for the rest go here. Highly recommended!

Balloons + Jukebox + Ghosts = Yay!

LISTEN Jukebox The Ghost - Good Day (MySpace)

This weekend I went to Washington DC for Jukebox The Ghost's EP Release party at the Black Cat. The EP is the latest Family Records release, this one in tandem with This Side Up Sounds. The show was phenomenal, the EP is great. You will hear more about them soon. Much more.

This is the band with some balloons.

This is me with the balloons we found at a car dealership and then were allowed to drag into the venue for the show.
