Big Noyd isn't going to have many tracks left to sell off of his new album Illustrious is he keeps going at this pace. After dropping a video for 'Things Done Changed' (watch here | download mp3), and leaking 'Money' (download here) there's two new tracks courtesy of Spine Mag. Download 'Ghetto' featuring Joell Ortiz above, or stream it in the SDSU player. Then go over to Spine Mag to download 'Snitches'. Joell kills it per usual.

VIDEO: Prodigy - 'Flashing Police Lights' Rap City Freestyle

The way that Mobb Deep's Prodigy is orchestrating the PR campaign around his last days before prison is admirable on one hand, and kind of sad on the other. This is a Rap City Freestyle where he re-writes Kanye West's 'Flashing Lights' into 'Flashing Police Lights'.

LISTEN: Big Noyd - The Money

DOWNLOAD Big Noyd - The Money (MP3)

Big Noyd might end up being the best MC in the Mobb Deep camp when Prodigy goes to jail in a few weeks. Not sure if he's showcasing that on 'The Money's tired concepts. Off of the upcoming album Illustrious.

VIDEO: Chris Brown Gets His Ass Handed To Him In Battle

Chris Brown usually doesn't make any appearances on this blog, but I derived a good amount of joy watching him get done like Jay-Z did Mobb Deep (© Curtis) by a French B-Boy in an impromptu dance battle. Speaking of which, I am looking for writers with a strong interest in b-boying/breakdancing. If you are one drop me a line: wes[at]liberatedmatter.com[dot]com Also any recommendations for the best breakdancing blogs out there would be appreciated. International ones too.

DOWNLOAD Prodigy - My World is Empty Without You (MP3)

Prodigy is putting in a lot of work before he enters the penitentiary for 3.5 years. This song is allegedly off of H.N.I.C. and I kinda dig it. Nice and soulful and gully.

NEWS: 50 Cent To Work On Lindsey Lohan's Album?

Does this news even surprise me after a photo like the one below? Natural progression for Curtis. 50 Cent is planning to work with Lindsay Lohan on her new album. You may remember that Lindsey also appeared on set for a 50 Cent/Mobb Deep video two years ago. They go back.

Daddy Lohan says: "They're talking about working together. Nothing's firm yet, but they're in talks. They've actually known each other for a while, just from being in the business together and crossing paths at events."

NEWS: J.A.M. Awards Tribute To Jam Master Jay

It killed me to not be able to attend this due to birthday obligations (my own) last night. Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Jim Jones, Papoose, De La Soul, Dead Prez, Everlast, Raekwon, Snoop Dogg and others performed at the J.A.M. Awards, a tribute to the late Jam Master Jay’s vision of Justice, Arts & Music. This sounds it would've hit the old school sweet spot: "EPMD took the stage to perform classics including “You Gots to Chill,” “So Wat Cha Sayin” and “Headbanger.” LL Cool J joined them for a verse, putting his fist in the air for JMJ." (More over at RS)

Related: Inspired by the recent murder of Sean Taylor and other violent crimes recent, P. Rosenberg wrote an interesting, long and worthwhile post about violence, hip hop culture and responsibility here called 'We Must Change This Ourselves'.

DOWNLOAD Infamous Mobb - Hustle Hard ft Alchemist (MP3)

Alchemist is a featured performer and the producer of Infamous Mobb's 'Hustle Hard'. Off of their new album Reality Rap (11/08), which features Havoc, Erick Sermon, Alchemist, Big Noyd and others. In the mean time I still can't over the fact that they chose such a confusing group name.

NEWS: Havoc's "Fuck T.I." Taken Out Of Context

I don't really know how you could possibly take Havoc's "Fuck T.I. out of context. Or how you could possibly put it into a contest where this explanation makes sense. Havoc tries to explain in this XXL interview.

XXL: During an interview on Shade 45 last month, you said, “Fuck T.I.,” in response to the South’s popularity in hip-hop. Why did you call out T.I.?
Havoc: When I made that comment, it came out the wrong way and people took it out of [con]text. My issue is that New York needs to get it together. The problem is not T.I. and the South, at all. They’re making beautiful music. They need to be looked at like a reflection of us, like, “We used to do it like that.” Right now, I’m like, “Come on, what’s going on here?”

Full interview here.

DOWNLOAD Havoc - Get Off My Dick (MP3)

Off of Havoc's upcoming album The Kush (9/18). I prefer Ice Cube track of nearly the same name, but this is the strongest yet of the leaked The Kush tracks. Sigh, I miss the old Mobb Deep.
