VIDEO: Redman Recording 'Self-Contruction'

Two days ago Hakim of Channel Live brought Redman to the Engine Room studio to record 8 bars for the upcoming KRS-One/Stop The Violence single 'Self-Construction'. I took some footage of the vocal session and asked Red a few questions.

VIDEO: Channel Live - Hip Hop Nation (Live Performance)

Hakim of Channel Live performed a live version of 'Hip Hop Nation' at the Stand Up! Hip Hop showcase. S5ive produced by Scanz with a guest spot from S5. I debuted the music video a few weeks ago and you can watch it here. One of my favorite songs of the year.

Hired Gun performed at last week's Stand Up! Hip Hop show that was curated by OhWord and yours truly, and hosted by Internets Celebrities. Other MCs on the bill were Donny Goines, Cause, Channel Live, NYOIL and Sean Price. Video by Terrence Elenteny.

Last night's Stand Up! show at Pianos was curated by OhWord.com and yours truly and hosted by the iCs. It was a great night. Cause, Hired Gun, Donny Goines and NYOIL all came through with tigh, explosive sets proving Hip Hop is more than alive. Hakim of Channel Live energized the crowd with a surprise set with guest Scanz. Sean Price ended the night with a hype performance. I forgot to bring my camera (d'oh!), but Ccelli from ExponentEntertainment sent some pics over that I quickly edited. Thanks to all that made the night possible.

I posted an MP3 of this really great track a while ago. Today SitDownStandUp.com is exclusively debuting the video. Much props to Hakim. A must-watch for any Hip Hop fan with an appreciation to that New York vibe you grew up on. So good.

A SitDownStandUp.com exclusive. The criminally slept-on East Coast 90's crew Channel Live, known for their 1994 single 'Mad Izm' and album Station Identification, is back. This time it's just Hakim and the new album A Revolution Televised is scheduled for 2008. This track, 'Hip Hop Nation', will have you solemnly bop your head while you'll listen to Hakim's truth over a beautifully melancholic beat produced by Scanz.

Hakim with Snoop
"To each his own you know, I respect everybody / but you know I've got my personal favorites, listen / Some listen to Jigga, well I fuck with GZA / Timbaland's too soft, I prefer True Mas' and RZA, go figure / Gangsta rap's commercial my n*gga / We used to fight the power, now we just sell liquor"

Amen.
