NEWS: Clipse Signs With Columbia

I wonder if Rick Rubin/Hip-Hop had anything to do with this. Clipse spoke to Billboard about recently signing a 5 year 50/50 profit-sharing deal for Re-Up Gang Records with Columbia somewhat similar to Jim Jones was talking about.

Clipse will own the masters for its Re-Up Gang artists, Ab Liva and Sandman, but no word on their own masters. 2008 will see a Re-Up Gang album and a new Clipse disc that for the first time will include outside producers including Timbaland, Danjahandz and Dame Grease. More here.

NEWS: Kanye West Performed @ MSG w/ Maroon 5

Even though his big brother Jay-Z made Kanye West buy a ticket to his MSG show, and he didn't get to spit, 'Ye finally got a chance to perform at Madison Square Garden. With his buddies Maroon 5. Not that you could tell from that phonecam pic MTV provided.

Update: Kanye is working on a new Michael Jackson album. Weren't the Neptunes doing that too at one point? Via BV.

Another sideways post featuring Britney Spears. This time because The Neptunes produced two new tracks off of her upcoming album Blackout. That titling process seems to have been a little misguided with an eye on her recent activities. Speaking of recent activities,'Stupid Things' is actually not about Britney's actions, but seems to be about K-fed, magazines, and other things. Both tracks feature Pharrell crooning on the hook and are unfortunately more in the vein of the sugary drab the Neptunes have been releasing in the past two years, rather than their return to awesome with Clipse and Jay-Z's 'Blue Magic'.

Rosco P Coldchain has been a favorite dark horse of mine since his guest spots on the first Clipse album. Someone please clean up his Wikipedia page. It's embarrassingly incomplete, and inaccurate. "..similar to Busta Rhymes", really?
