I hadn't heard of The Teeth before, but some other folks have. I listened and really enjoyed the perfectly jangly brit-rock tunes on their new album You Are My Lover Now. Above a perfect example of why.
On another note, magazine cover layouts are often boring and unimaginatively stuck in the same format that has been used for many decades. It's exciting to see some people, namely Esquire, step out and be different when it comes to text placement. It also helps to have great photos of course.
