VIDEO: Nas @ Roseland Ballroom (Surviving The Times/Eye For An Eye/Made You Look)
He warned us that he didn't know all the words by heart yet to 'Surviving The Times', the new track off of his upcoming Greatest Hits record. As soon as he did one guy in the crowd must've said something that caught Nas' ear. He brought him up on stage and the guy filled in half a verse for Nas. Very impressive since the song has only been out for a few days and not even the artist remembers all the words. Once the song was over Nas showed him love and proceeded into Eye For An Eye, followed by Made You Look. He slyly replaced "Y'all appointed me to bring rap justice, but I ain't 5-0" with "...but I ain't Fifty". A thinly veiled snitching reference for 50 Cent.
For the last song Nas ended up jumping into the crowd causing a big frenzy and people holding onto Lil' Homey while he managed to still rap nearly all of his rhymes. Big bodyguards jumped in the crowd like hungry lions and freed Nas from the loving crowd. He couldn't help but stand on stage for a little while longer watching the crowd visibly touched with a big smile on his face. In the end it didn't matter how he didn't go on til 1.30AM and that it was a mess in the venue. Everyone was happy.
Photos of Nas, EPMD, Slick Rick and Jeru Da Damaja in a post later this weekend, including some more videos of the Nas performance.
