This panel compares and contrasts the efforts of big budget digital media outlets to play in the online music space with music websites that started with a URL and a dream. It's the big guys vs. the little guys as this lively discussion explores reach, passion and the differences and similarities in content.

Initial CMJ Lineup Announced

Today CMJ reports the initial line up of their CMJ Marathon. Pretty big names, which leaves me with the double feeling of: "Ooh I get to maybe see Spoon" vs. "Does Spoon really need to be promoted by CMJ as an up-and-coming band"?

If you look at CMJ as a music festival I'd say the list below is pretty awesome. If you see it as a way to discover tons of the best new music you haven't heard yet, then this list of bands is already better than the star-studded one from last year.
